Citizen Participation

All citizens are permitted and encouraged to speak on agenda items. If you wish to speak to the Board on any item on the agenda, please fill out a "Notice" slip with your name and the Item Number about which you wish to speak. Hand this to a staff person or take it to the front table. The Chairman will call upon you in turn.

1. Approval of the minutes of the Transportation Advisory Board meeting held on August 18, 2009. (Approved with minor corrections)

2. Acknowledge outgoing Board Member, Mr. Travis Cunningham. (Acknowledged)

3. Items from citizens present. (None)

4. Hear staff update regarding the status of the Power Road Improvements from Pecos Road to the Loop 202 (Santan) Freeway. (Update heard by Board)

5. Discuss and take action on staff recommendation to approve a pilot Driver Speed Feedback Sign Program. (**Approved – Board voted 8-0)

6. Hear a staff report regarding the Installation of School Zone Flashing Lights. (Report reviewed by Board – Board expressed support for proposal)

7. Hear a staff report about the proposed Temporary Traffic Control Program, for discussion and possible action. (Report reviewed by Board – Board expressed support for proposal)

8. Discuss and take action on staff recommendation to adopt an updated Traffic Barricade Manual for the City of Mesa. (**Approved – Board voted 8-0)

9. Discuss and take action on staff recommendation to amend the traffic title of City Code by adding new definitions for “City Transportation Facility” and “Service Vehicle” and exempting service vehicles from prohibitions on parking and driving over sidewalks. (**Approved – Board voted 8-0)

**The Transportation Advisory Board is an advisory board with final approval residing with City Council for this action.

Informational Update on Recent Council Action:

At its August 20, 2009 meeting, the City Council acknowledged the receipt of the minutes of the April 21, 2009 Transportation Advisory Board meeting.

At its August 20, 2009 meeting, the City Council acknowledged the receipt of the minutes of the May 19, 2009 Transportation Advisory Board meeting.

Informational Update on Recent Parking Prohibitions:

Approved on August 12, 2009 – insufficient roadway width to accommodate travel lanes and on street parking.

    • On the west side of Extension Road from Baseline Road to a point 310 feet south of Baseline Road (east of Alma School Road and south of Baseline Road, Council District 3).
