    4. Discuss and take action on the presentation by Vietnam Veteran Shawn Dick.

    5. Discuss and take action on the presentation by MLK Jr. Celebration Committee President, Nancy Reynolds.

    6. Hear an update, discuss and provide direction on items presented by the:

    a. Ad Hoc Community of Education Project Team

      • Give an update on education and training on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues in the City of Mesa.

      • Give an update on the recognition of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

      • Give an update on increasing outreach to the emerging communities located in the City of Mesa.

    b. Ad Hoc Marketing Strategies Project Team

      • Give an update on the Human Relations Advisory Board Web page.

    c. Ad Hoc Committee on Disabilities

      • Give an update on 1st Annual Arizona ADA Coordinator Conference held on October 1, 2009.

    7. Mesa Police Department Report – Community Partnership Coordinator, Denise Traves.

    a. Hear an update on hate and bias crimes in Mesa.

    b. Hear an update from the Chief’s Community Forums.

    c. Hear an update on presentations and conferences.

    8. Diversity Officer’s Report:

    a. Hear an update on the Diversity Office and Neighborhood Outreach Office activities.

      • Building Strong Neighborhoods Program

      • Dia de Los Muertos Celebration, October 31 to November 1, Mesa Arts Center

      • The 6th Annual Dialogue & Friendship Dinner, November 10, Foundation for Inter-Cultural Dialogue

      • Huhugam Ki Museum 22nd Anniversary Celebration and “Vaila”, November 14th Noon-9pm, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community

    9. Discuss and take action on the 2009-2010 Chair and Vice Chair positions for the Human Relations Advisory Board.

    10. Report on conferences and/or meeting attended.

    11. Scheduling of meetings, future agenda items, and general information.

    a. Discuss and take action on the proposed November 14, 2009 Human Relations Advisory Board Retreat date and time.

    12. Adjourn

The next regular meeting will be determined due to holiday schedule.

*Members of the audience may address the Board on any item.

State Statute prohibits the

Human Relations Advisory Board from discussing an item that is not on the agenda.
