COUNCIL MINUTES
November 24, 2008
The City Council of the City of Mesa met in a Special Council Meeting in the lower level meeting room of the Council Chambers, 57 East 1st Street, on November 24, 2008, at 4:00 p.m.

Mayor Smith excused Councilmembers Kavanaugh and Somers from the entire meeting.
1. Take action on the following resolution.
a. Canvassing, declaring and adopting the results of the Special Election held on November 4, 2008 – Resolution No. 9413.
Mayor Smith stated that at the November 4, 2008 Special Election, Mesa voters were asked to consider three ballot measures: Proposition 400 (Charter Amendment – “Slum Landlord”); Question 1 (Public Safety Bonds); and Question 2 (Street Bonds). He briefly summarized the votes cast for each of the measures as follows:
• Proposition 400 – Yes – 114,974; No – 31,151
• Question 1 – For the Bonds – 94,855; Against the Bonds – 46,791
• Question 2 – For the Bonds – 86,842; Against the Bonds – 47,387
Deputy City Clerk Michael Claspell confirmed that the number of votes cast, as read into the record by the Mayor, was accurate.
It was moved by Vice Mayor Jones, seconded by Councilmember Richins, that Resolution No. 9413 be adopted.
Mayor Smith declared the motion carried unanimously by those present and Resolution No. 9413 adopted.
2. Items from citizens present.
There were no items from citizens present.
3. Adjournment.
Without objection, the Special Council Meeting adjourned at 4:03 p.m.
