The Human Services Advisory Board (HSAB) is a nine member advisory Board appointed by the Mayor. It is comprised of elected officials or representatives of, community representatives (business, faith and education) and low-income individuals. The HSAB is the body that recommends Human Service programs and policies to the Mesa City Council. The Board reviews Human Service requests for proposals (RFP’s) and will occasionally attend agency visits for an overview of the programs to determine their value. The Board then makes funding recommendations to the Mesa City Council for ABC: A Better Community, City General and Emergency Shelter Grant funds.
Time Commitment:
Monthly meetings are held at 5:30 pm. During the allocation process an additional time commitment may be required for early morning or evening agency visits. It is very important that members attend meetings and are prepared to provide feedback and suggestions. Board recommendations are made to the Council to aid them in making funding decisions.
